In June of 2006, HEARt of the Village, Inc. treasurer Diane Taylor and founder Dr. Tomi Browne traveled again to Kenya. Thanks to a donation from SunTrust Bank of 15 new laptop computers, the two women carried the new technology to the newly developed computer lab located at the Nyumbani Children’s Home in Kenya, home to 97 infants and children infected with HIV. The Computer Center was developed through the efforts of more than a dozen American businesses and individuals and support of this project is central to the efforts of HEARt of the Village, Inc. The Computer Center in Nyumbani has recently hired a full-time director and plans are in place to continue to expand the educational and training opportunities available there. Today, children at the Home enthusiastically wait in line for their turn at new computers, because learning has suddenly become more fun. Tomorrow, they will have the opportunity to obtain jobs and participate in the Information Age sweeping the globe.
